The Teacher in Residence (TIR) program is a fast-track into teaching. TIR's earn both a bachelor's degree and initial teaching licensure in the area of Elementary Education, Special Education: K-12 General Curriculum, or Special Education: K-12 Adapted Curriculum. The TIR program is a partnership between 国产伦理 and local school divisions, through shared funding from the school divisions with grant support from the Virginia Department of Education and is based on the needs of the partnering school district. This page displays the application process for candidates interested in participating in the Teacher in Residence program.
- Give your application thought and care; write your reflective questions with the track you have applied for in mind. Be prepared to upload your word file during the application process.
- Submit an unofficial copy of all scores and transcripts to TIR, Attn: Jody Sommerfeldt (jsommerf@odu.edu)
- 础濒濒听翱贵贵滨颁滨础尝听score reports will need to be sent to 国产伦理 Office of Clinical Experiences.
- Follow-up with your references. All recommendations must be submitted before the date of the onsite selection process.
- 国产伦理 to the program by the program deadline for priority consideration.
- All top candidates will be invited to a campus interview held at 国产伦理
- All invited candidates MUST ATTEND the interview聽
- Your on-site interview will include these elements:
- Providing a writing sample
- Participation in a group discussion
- Completing a personal interview
- Mingling with the leadership of the school district and/or 国产伦理 Faculty
- Official notification of acceptance will come via email.
- Be prepared to begin test preparation immediately
- Be ready to learn at which partner school you will be placed.
