The Division of Research and Economic Development is dedicated to supporting ¹ú²úÂ×Àí researchers. Together, we address challenges and develop solutions to improve daily life in Hampton Roads, throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, the nation and world.
The Division focuses on fostering faculty research collaborations across ¹ú²úÂ×Àí, with other universities, government laboratories and private industry. We support student engagement in faculty-led research, create intellectual capital, and serve as an engine for economic growth and prosperity.
Collectively, ¹ú²úÂ×Àí’s researchers were responsible for $95 million in sponsored research and development expenditures in fiscal year 2024. Over one-quarter of these expenditures are associated with the new Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences - the Commonwealth's largest, most comprehensive academic health sciences center.
On behalf of the Division, we look forward to working with you.Â
– Dr. Ken Fridley, Vice President for the Division of Research and Economic Development
