Getting Started with OEA Accommodations

To register with the Office of Educational Accessibility (OEA) for accommodations, students follow the below steps. Students should initiate the process by scheduling an appointment, completing the pre-registration form, and submitting documentation as early as possible. Scheduling an Intake Appointment

Sign into the Monarch Wellness portal and sign in using your Midas ID.

Select OEA and then click the 鈥淯pload Documents鈥 tab. Choose the file upload option that best aligns with your needs. (Most students will select 鈥淟etter from Doctor/Qualified Examiner of Diagnosis or Disability 鈥 OEA")

Students requesting academic and/or housing accommodations must submit documentation of a disability to verify eligibility and to be considered for accommodations covered under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 as amended (2008).

Please review OEA's Documentation Guidelines for additional information. All documentation is kept confidential.

Additional forms of documentation may include:

  • A letter from a qualified medical professional
  • Psychological evaluation(s)
  • Psychoeducational evaluation(s)
  • IEP or 504 Plan
  • A physician's medical record
  • Please make sure you have uploaded all of the required documentation to the wellness portal before your appointment. Incomplete documentation can delay and cause your appointment to be rescheduled by the OEA provider.

Next, select the 鈥淎ppointments鈥 tab to schedule an intake appointment with one of our accessibility counselors. Select the accessibility counselor with next availability and select an appointment time between 10:00 鈥 2:00 pm only. Intake meetings can take place in person or via Zoom call.

No intakes will be held during final exams at the end of each semester.

Complete the 鈥淥EA Pre Registration Form鈥 after confirming your appointment with the OEA accessibility counselor.

What to Expect from Your Intake

Students who work with OEA may be unsure of what to expect when they meet with a specialist for an intake.

Here are a few things to know before you attend your meeting:

  • Your Intake is your chance to share your experience with your disability. This is your opportunity to share the impact your disability has had on your educational experiences.
  • You will have a chance to share how your disability impacts all aspects of your academics and what barriers you may face in class, during exams and quizzes, and how it may affect the out-of-classroom activities required of your program.
  • During the meeting, you may be asked what you think would be most helpful to address the barriers you have described. It is okay to say you are not sure. We can brainstorm what might be helpful and what resources may be available to you on campus.
  • If you have received accommodations in the past (at another college or in high school), share what has or has not worked in the past.
  • In your intake we will determine accommodations and explore different support options that are available to you at 国产伦理.

What is an Accommodation Letter?

Once accommodations are identified and determined, an Accommodation Letter will be emailed to the eligible student and their faculty members. The Accommodation Letter explains the accommodations the student will need to ensure equal access. The email will serve as a notice to instructors that the student requires an accommodation(s) in their class.

When the student receives the Accommodation Letter via their 国产伦理 email, they should request to meet with their instructors during office hours or another scheduled time to discuss how accommodations will be implemented in each class.
