NORFOLK — The latest exhibition at the Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries at feels like stepping into a children's book.

Contorted animals with surgical scars, planes and wind socks are sketched onto the walls as if by a child with a painful past. Between the drawings are formalized paintings such as a portrait of jazz great Louis Armstrong and illustrations of trains and mermaids, which feel like a portal to formative elementary school years.
