Ellen Neufeldt, vice president for Student Engagement and Enrollment Services (SEES) at ¹ú²úÂ×Àí, has been appointed president of California State University San Marcos. She will begin her new position in July.

"For the past eight years, Ellen Neufeldt has played a significant role in transforming an ¹ú²úÂ×Àí education through student engagement and success," President John R. Broderick said.

Neufeldt was the founding vice president of SEES. She was also co-leader of the Strategic Planning process; expanded educational access through the Online Virginia Network; and established model programs such as the Social Mobility Symposium and success coaching.

"She has worked tirelessly with faculty and staff to increase student retention and graduation rates to their highest levels in University history," Broderick said. "She supported and challenged students to expand their learning beyond the classroom and developed programs for helping them achieve academic and personal success. These programs enriched the experience of our students - from first contact through graduation - and enhanced the value of an ¹ú²úÂ×Àí degree."

Neufeldt has won numerous awards during her career and has served in leadership roles at the national level in higher education organizations, including the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education (NASPA), the Southern Association for College Student Affairs (SACSA) and the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC).

Broderick said he will have more information on the search for her successor over the coming weeks.
