The ePortfolio program of ¹ú²úÂ×Àí's Department of Communication & Theatre Arts will be showcased during an event on Feb. 19, designed to spotlight the growth of the online resource for ¹ú²úÂ×Àí Communication students in the past five years.
The Communication ePortfolio Project was developed to improve students' writing by providing professional development to the faculty teaching these courses, coordinating efforts across the department, and creating a platform for students to advocate for their own expertise and educational training.
The event, held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Learning Commons in the Perry Library conference rooms 1313-1311, is aimed at faculty who use or are considering using ePortfolios in their classes.
It will feature remarks by University Vice Provost Brian Payne; Alice Jones, associate director of Student and Alumni Programs with the Career Management Center; as well as a digital poster session of best practices from current students and recent graduates. Light refreshments will be provided.
"Part of what we're most excited about is highlighting the creative adoption of the COMM ePortfolio across the Communication curriculum," said Alison Lietzenmayer, Senior Lecturer and 2017-2018 COMM ePortfolio Coordinator for the Department of Communication & Theatre Arts.
"Buy-in from faculty, and supporting their adoption in a variety of ways, really makes a difference when it comes to designing high impact practices like an ePortfolio."
The event is being co-sponsored by the University's Center for High Impact Practices (CHIP) while the ¹ú²úÂ×Àí chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is hosting and promoting the event.
The Center for High Impact Practices (CHIP) supports academic success in the classroom and beyond through student-centered programs, resources, and high-impact educational activities.
