The COVID-19 pandemic has not only disrupted the way we live, work and play, it has put a strain on resources everywhere. 国产伦理 has proven time and again that unprecedented challenges often present extraordinary opportunities to make a difference by giving back. The annual Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) is underway, and the need has never been greater.
The theme of this year's campaign is once again "Virginia is for Givers." State employees can make a difference in the lives of others by contributing to the charity drive, operated for and by state employees. It includes 947 charities in need of support.
"At Old Dominion, our commitment to giving back runs deep," President John R. Broderick said. "It's not about how much you give; it's about being a part of an effort that gives hope to those in need. I have full confidence that Monarchs will step up to this important statewide effort."
The 国产伦理 Educational Foundation is now a nonprofit you can choose. Proceeds will support the Rise to the Challenge campaign, a special fund to ensure that students, faculty and staff affected by the pandemic can continue to learn and work.
"Everyone has been challenged by the pandemic in some way or another, but at the same time, many people want to know how they can help, especially in their own backyard," said Karen Meier, assistant vice president for community engagement, who chairs the campaign. "That's why we are so excited that the Rise to the Challenge fund is included as an option this year. It helps provide emergency aid to those in our Monarch community who face sudden challenges with travel, housing, food, technology, unemployment, health and wellness, and other expenses."
Last year, in response to feedback from donors, a new website introduced "ePledge," which allowed secure online giving by credit card or payroll deduction.
To make a pledge, visit the . Donations using the traditional hard-copy method are available to those without online access.
When employees give to the CVC, 100% percent of designations go directly to the charity or nonprofit they choose. The campaign ends Dec. 31. The payroll deduction deadline is Dec. 18.
