The F. Ludwig Diehn Concert Series for the 2018-19 academic year kicks off with a performance by the American Brass Quintet at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Chandler Recital Hall in the Diehn Center.

The quintet is internationally recognized as one of the premier chamber-music ensembles. The group has received rave reviews:

As the 2013 recipient of Chamber Music America's highest honor, the Richard J. Bogomolny National Service Award for significant and lasting contributions to the field, the quintet has performed in Asia, Australia, Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East and all 50 of the United States. The group also boasts a discography of nearly 60 recordings and the premieres of over 150 contemporary brass works.

The group consists of Kevin Cobb and Louis Hanzlik, trumpet; Eric Reed, horn; Michael Powell, trombone; and John D. Rojak, bass trombone

  • Common Heroes, Uncommon Land (Philip Lasser)
  • Three Fantasias in Church Modes (Thomas Stoltzer)
  • Frost Fire (Eric Ewazen)

Tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for 国产伦理 students. They can be purchased at .

Free parking will be available in Garage E at 49th Street and Bluestone Avenue or in the circular lot between the Diehn Center.

The series is made possible by an endowment established by the Hampton Roads Community Foundation and a generous gift from F. Ludwig Diehn. Concerts in this series bring significant classical and jazz musicians to Hampton Roads.
